DDoS attack hits Mastodon, the Twitter rival

Mastodon is a Germany-based social media platform that has grown in popularity since October 2022, when Tesla Chief Elon Musk took over the reins of Twitter. This platform has seen an increase in user accounts from 50,000 to 5,00,000 in just 10 days. Recently, a Distributed Denial of Service Attack (DDoS) was launched on Mastodon, causing disruption in the server or two. Problems were also seen in Twitter with users complaining about clicking web links and failure to open images in their timelines.

Mastodon is a decentralized social network that provides users with server resources for specific themes, topics, and interests. It has been around since 2016, but only recently has it gained immense popularity. Celebrities with blue tick marks have been seen taking accounts with the decentralized service, and the growth is still ongoing.

Mastodon is a free and open-source software, and it remains to be seen if it has the potential to reach the same level of success as Twitter. The key points to remember about Mastodon are: it is a Germany-based social media platform that has grown in popularity since October 2022, it is a decentralized social network, it is free and open-source software, and it has been the target of a recent DDoS attack.
