Is Shoulder Surfing a threat to Cybersecurity

Shoulder Surfing is a threat actor’s tactic to gain sensitive information by looking over the shoulder of a victim and checking out the screen, over-listening to a conversation or capturing key strokes, by using relative spying tools. Shoulder Surfing can take place in crowded places, in malls, airports, transit stations, and even at ATMs. The bad actors indulge in Shoulder Surfing because it requires less effort and yields profitable results. In order to stay safe from Shoulder Surfing, it is important to be aware of potential threats and to act accordingly. Keeping the device screen away from the attention of others, using a strong password, using two-factor authentication, avoiding public networks to access email and bank account services, never clicking on links from unknown senders, and following basic cybersecurity hygiene are some of the key steps to protect against Shoulder Surfing.
