LockBit Ransomware gang focusing on MacOS

Ransomware is one of the most dangerous cyber threats in the world today, and now the LockBit Ransomware Group has extended its reach to Apple computers. An analysis by MalwareHunterTeam found the encryption on a ZIP file on the VirusTotal database, and it included encryptors for ARM, FreeBSD, MIPS, and SPARC CPUs. In other news, Chinese web search giant Baidu has threatened to file a lawsuit against Apple Inc for fake copies of the Ernie Bot app being circulated on its official app store. This app is a mimic of Microsoft’s ChatGPT, and it is still in the testing phase, but developers scraped the idea and released it on the play store, thus violating the intellectual property rights of Baidu.

It is essential for Apple Inc to investigate the ransomware attack and then release an assurance-filled statement that their devices are safe from ransomware attacks. Additionally, users should be wary of any Ernie app available on the app stores until Baidu makes an official announcement. Finally, any app circulated on the App Store should be carefully inspected to make sure that it is not spreading malware, spyware, or espionage-related tools.
