Twitter works on secret AI project in contradiction to sayings of owner Elon Musk

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been the buzzword of the tech world lately, with the potential of automating many tedious and repetitive tasks. Elon Musk, the current owner of Twitter, has been vocal about the dangers of AI and has urged AI-based firms to pause their research and development (R&D) until the White House figures out a way to take control over AI. Despite this, Twitter is reportedly working on a secret project that is generative AI-based, which is in line with the Microsoft-owned and OpenAI project ChatGPT.

This work reportedly began in November 2022, and Elon Musk has poached two senior AI researchers from DeepMind to take the lead on the project. It must be noted that Mr. Musk was one of the active directors in OpenAI until 2018, and his exit was followed by his negative rhetoric about AI technology. He claims that OpenAI was created as an open-source platform to cater to the needs of all online users and be treated as an alternative to Google, but it has since been taken over by Microsoft with the intention of maximizing profits from the investment.

It is unclear whether the generative language project is being done with or without the consent of the Tesla Chief. However, trade analysts state that Twitter operates with the goal of making profits and investing in such machine learning models makes complete sense. In March 2023, Elon Musk signed an open letter along with 1000 other technologists and researchers to suspend the creation of AI products for six months or until the risks are resolved.

In conclusion, Twitter is reportedly working on a generative AI project despite Elon Musk’s warnings about the dangers of AI. This project may be a way for the microblogging website to maximize profits from their investment. However, it is unclear if Musk is in support of this project or not. It is important to note that it is necessary to be aware of the risks associated with AI technology before developing such projects.
