February 2023 saw 35 cybersecurity-related merger and acquisition (M&A) deals announced, according to an analysis conducted by SecurityWeek. This is an increase from the 450 cybersecurity-related deals that were announced in the previous year.
The deals ranged from Accenture acquiring Morphus Professional Services to Cisco buying Valtix in an effort to enhance its Security Cloud offering. Highlights include eBay acquiring 3PM Shield to enhance its fraud detection capabilities, and Uptime Institute buying Leet Security to offer a comprehensive cybersecurity rating system. These deals have allowed companies to expand their services, such as Network Intelligence expanding its service offering through its acquisition of services business of Ilantus Technologies, and Redwood Software expanding its automation and managed file transfer portfolio through its acquisition of Cerberus.
Moreover, the deals have enabled companies to acquire the technology and knowledge of their targets. For example, Kaspersky acquiring a 49% stake in Ximi Pro to enhance its cloud security offering, and Okta acquiring Bad Packets to bolster its customer identity focus, threat insights, and overall technology offering.
